History of WinProfile

Most survey system software currently on the market has been designed by specialists trained in hydrography on a theoretical level. The development has either taken place in conjunction with hardware- and integrated system-scale or as a tool for consultancy.

The use of software thus developed faces one of to alternative problems: either the software is too complex to enable an uncomplicated access and an easy and satisfying use or it is too simple thus omitting steps and functions in the routine survey procedure.

Another problem with more complex systems is their prohibitive price.

We have based our software development of WinProfile on a practised everyday survey routine and the wish to implement each step of a professional survey procedure in the logical sequence.

The system is designed for a windows operating system and is self instructive. It mey be delivered in any desired language (German and English implemented at this stage, other languages configurable by user modify a text-file).

The interfaces will support all positioning, depth sounding and direction-hardware plus additional special hardware.

The sequence of steps is broadly:

• Digitizing of own coastlines, depthlines, borders an other features
• Survey grid and track planning, online tide-correction RTK-GPS-based or Tachymeter-based
• Survey performance with vessels of any kind including wreck-detection
• Online tide-correction by RTK-GPS or Tachymeter
• Gauge-level correction in postprocessing for up to 3 gauge stations with distance weighted interpolation
• Position-editor for the correction of position errors
• Digital Terrain Model, calculation and 3D-view
• Depth-editor for the correction of depth-sounding errors
• Trackplot, Depthplot and Profileplot to a format up to A0 in colour on Printer or Plotter or Screen
• Export of data in xyz - file and other formats

WinProfile  is used also in dredging with success for the planning and control of the work.
